Sub Tropical Grasses in Action
Cook's Myall Landcare group is holding its 2nd Annual Sub Tropical Grasses Field day on Friday commencing at 1.30pm at Kulgarnie Woolshed. Dr Suzanne Boschma a research agronomist with the Department of Primary Industries will be the guest speaker on the day. Karen Roberts Parkes District Agronomist will on hand to discuss the progress of the trials to date and sub tropical grasses as part of the overall farming system.        Read Full Story

Earth Hour, Parkes and Districts Landcare, North Parkes Mine, CENTROC and the Shiny Halo,

Earth Hour Report.

On Saturday 26th March 2011, members from Parkes and Districts Landcare met at 5:30 at Northparkes Oval to take part in a community tree planting day. Trees were provided as part of the Shiny Halo blog, http://centroc.com.au/shinyhalo/ where one tree is planted for each article posted. Parkes Shire Council is a supporter of the blog, and as a result was allocated 200 trees to plant as part of a community activity.  Read Full Story

Hello Landcarers.
If you are interested in planting a few trees then Parkes and Districts Landcare has an offer for you. As part of a Caring for our Country Community Action Grant, Parkes and Districts Landcare is offering grants for tree planting up to the value of $3000. There are specific criteria and guidelines that projects must adhere to, such as a minimum of 200 trees per hectare and a plantation width of 30m.  Read Full Story
