Visit to Trundle to inspect Project Site.
On Monday our District Landcare facilitator Gerald Carnie, Andy White from Soil Services and myself travelled out to Trundle to see the proposed project on Bob and Sandra Wharton property. We had a discussions with Bob on the project which is to value add to a site that is already being used to portray sustainable grazing management techniques in a traditional farming area. The project will involve works such as remediation and fencing of eroded areas, treeline establishment and the installation of alternative watering points and will be coupled with field day trips with specialized grazing management.
The site will be unique in the way that there are few farmers using these systems west of Parkes and giving access to new ideas. We had an inspection of the site and were very impressed with the work Bob and Sandra had already carried out and could see the benefits of the grant proposal.  The aim is to establish a site that will demonstrate the relevance of sustainable grazing to traditional farmers, landcarers and the general public.
