Thanks to the volunteers night
We had the NSW Landcare Forum and awards presentation here in Parkes on the 5-7 September and it was a great success with three hundred and twenty delegates from all over the state attending. We conducted the forum over two venues mainly with four venues being used for the award nominees oral and visual presentation. We also conducted four bus trip to field trips around the area showing off the environmental work we are achieving.  Read Full Story

Earth Hour, Parkes and Districts Landcare, North Parkes Mine, CENTROC and the Shiny Halo,

Earth Hour Report.

On Saturday 26th March 2011, members from Parkes and Districts Landcare met at 5:30 at Northparkes Oval to take part in a community tree planting day. Trees were provided as part of the Shiny Halo blog, http://centroc.com.au/shinyhalo/ where one tree is planted for each article posted. Parkes Shire Council is a supporter of the blog, and as a result was allocated 200 trees to plant as part of a community activity.  Read Full Story

Looking at that date makes me cringe – can’t believe that we are nearly at the end of 2010, where did the time go? Hope that all of you on headers are going well and that there are minimal breakdowns! Parkes and Districts Landcare had some great news this week with successful funding applications in two projects under the Caring for Our Country Community Action Grants – the CAGs.

Carbon Conference at Dubbo
Organised by Louisa and Michael Kiely the Conference was held in Dubbo. While there has been a lot of talk about Carbon Trading, one of the main themes coming out of the conference, and this is after listening to a collection of great speakers, is that if you are not putting back carbon into your soil or farming system, you are spending money.
