Forbes Urban Landcare at the National landcare Awards
Len and Anne Reade represented Forbes Urban Landcare at the Landcare National Awards Presentation Old Parliament House Building last Thursday night. Forbes Mayor Phillys Miller was also present. Forbes were NSW winners and were nominated to the National award for the Urban landcare Category.
The winner of the Urban category were Friend of Westgate Park locate at the Westgate bridge in Melbourne. It was great to see Forbes and the central west represented at a nation level in landcare and the dedicated members of Forbes urban have demonstrated what can be achieved in community awareness, education and projects that achieve so much in the Urban environment.
Trundle Soil Pit Days
These field days have been running last Monday Yesterday and today and have been a great success with good attendance from property owners from all over the Parkes and Districts area. A bus conveyed participants from Trundle to on farm soil pits on each of the days looking at a variety of soil types with the expertise of soil scientist David McKenzie from McKenzie Soil management Orange and the Lachlan CMA’s Ian Packer. Lunch was provided on each day These workshops are sponsored by Parkes and Districts Landcare and the Lachlan CMA We at Parkes and Districts Landcare wish to thank the Lachlan CMA and especially Nina Hooper for their support with this field day.
Meeting of landcare this Friday
We will be conduction our monthly meeting this Friday at the landcare office unit 2 / 25 Church street Parkes commencing 9.00 am. The meeting will have report from LCMA, CWCMA, Parkes Shire Council, Forbes Shire Council, NorthParkes Mine, Project Officer’s ,Forum Planning, Education Sub Committee. plus there will be a considerable amount of general business with National Tree day and the Enviro day for schools coming up at the end of July.
